Since 2008, the DOT has been trying to integrate the driver’s med card into his/her CDL license. Although it was tough enough to help all of our CDL drivers self certified the type of operation they work in and incorporate their med card into their CDLIS driver license record, the states have had a much more challenging process to comply. In April 2015 FMCSA again has made anothe effort to integrate the two document. Unfortunately this process does mandate that motor carriers verify the process with mandatory reoccurring records.
Also there seems to be an increase in DOT audit activity. Even one BASIC in the ALERT status can invite the DOT in for a visit. Make sure that you are ready. This newsletter has helpful reminders on how to be prepared.May 2015 Newsletter
